R100 Gives You a Shot — and One Second Chance

Pay R100 once. If you are eliminated during your first qualifying Heat, you may enter one additional Heat without paying another entry fee.

R100 Once-Off

Covers your original entry and one eligible Second Chance.

One Re-Entry

If eliminated, you may try once more during another qualifying Heat.

No Heat 5 Re-Entry

Heat 5 is the final qualifying Heat.

No Pro Singers

A professional singer is defined as a singer who gets paid to perform locally or internationally.

Song Rules

Come Prepared

Songs are selected on the night only and work on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Songs may only be entered on the competition night.
  • Song selection opens at 19:00.
  • Registration closes at 19:45.
  • No two contestants may perform the same song on the same competition night.
  • First contestant to register a song gets that song.
  • Contestants should prepare at least 5+ songs.
  • You may not repeat a song you have performed previously anywhere in the competition.

Competition FAQ

How much does it cost to enter?
R100 once-off.
How many contestants can enter a Heat?
A maximum of 25 contestants may enter each Heat.
Can I enter again if I am eliminated?
Yes. Your R100 entry includes one Second Chance during another qualifying Heat. There is no re-entry if you are eliminated during Heat 5.
Can professional singers enter?
No. A professional singer is defined as someone who gets paid to perform locally or internationally.
Can I reserve songs before Friday?
No. Songs may only be entered on the night from 19:00.
Can two contestants sing the same song?
Not during the same competition night. The first contestant to register the song gets it.
Can I repeat a song later?
No. Once you have performed a song anywhere in the competition, it may not be repeated.
How is Crowd Response measured?
Crowd Response is 30% of the result and is measured by noise, applause and overall crowd reaction.
What happens if there is a tie?
A Sing-Off takes place using a new song that the contestant has not performed previously.
